Food prep for race day

When I tell friends that we are every weekend away to race somewhere, I get ask the same all the time: how can you keep up  eating clean on the go?

Well, it's not always easy, it requires some organisation and as usual lots of cooking!

But then, I would do the same if we would stay home, so I don't think there is such a big difference!

No, we have never bought anything from the club canteen or in a road house on the go! Never! We know, buying at the canteen supports your club, but then I would give in to my believes! Our decision is clean eating, no processed items, no vegetables oils ( in canteens most is fried in such) and no added sugars in any way!

So I will prep & cook the day prior to race day and we always have a selection of yummy food available to overcome hunger & needs for "bad" food! ( we all know that those bad foods are soooooooo yummy, oh yeah, we've been there too!)

When you watch fellow riders on a race day, you'll get quickly aware how much crap they gobble up! Sugary drinks for breakfast (flavoured milk), followed by cold drinks, fried food, ice creams or icy poles, chocolate bars.... they would have to run 2 marathons to make up for that bad food! This is not how you should fuel up an athletes body!

So I happily cook up a storm and know, my kids can go eventually stronger for longer with the right Powerfuel!
